Saudi Arabia’s Communications & Information Technology Commission (CITC) illustrated the most prominent objectives and techniques to be enabled by the frequency usage fee regulation for the spectrum license, which was approved by the Cabinet on June 14.
The commission explained that the regulation determines the financial equivalent of spectrum usage for all wireless uses in the Kingdom, with the aim of facilitating investments in wireless systems and technologies, maximizing economic return, enabling spectrum commercial uses and adopting innovative wireless technologies.
That is besides providing participatory mechanisms for spectrum and enhancing its effective usage.
CITC also described the most significant wireless technologies that the regulation will enable, including 5G and mobile communications, digital satellite applications and non-terrestrial networks, advanced and low-powered intelligent applications, wireless connections and fixed-access wireless broadband, as well as land, sea and air transport applications.
