POS device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached around SAR 10.34 billion in the week ended June 11, compared to around SAR 11.17 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that 142.46 million transactions were processed last week.
POS transactions represent consumer spending through ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

All sectors saw declines during the week, led by education sector, which fell by 28%. It was followed by electronic and electric devices (16%) and beverages and food (13%).
Consumer spending was focused on the restaurants and cafe sector in the week, with nearly SAR 1.51 billion, representing 15% of total sales, followed by the food and beverages sector with SAR 1.49 billion.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions in terms of value, with nearly SAR 3.24 billion, representing 31% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with SAR 1.63 billion.
