Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on June 15 announced 297,440 applications from Saudi citizens and residents for Hajj this year.

Total applicants comprised of 62% males and 38% females.

The total number of completed applications exceeded 217,000 through “Eatmarna” platform and the e-portal for domestic pilgrims, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry will send an SMS to the qualified applicants in preparation for the completion of payment within 48 hours though approved payment methods.

The age group of 31-40 years accounted for the highest number of applications at 38%, followed by the 23-30 age group, the 41-50 age group at 21% and 12%, respectively.

This was followed by the 51 to 65 age group, and then by those under 20.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Abdulfattah Mashat noted that the applications excluded accounted for a very small percentage of the total applications.

The reasons for the exclusion included the applicants did not meet the requirements, the information did not match the applicant's situation, or one of the applicants in one application did not meet a condition, Mashat said.

The applications amendment service was available during the 10-day registration period, he noted.
