Al Madinah Region Development Authority, in cooperation with National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP), invites investors to participate in Al Madinah Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The project is one of the Pilgrim Experience Program’s initiatives under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

In a statement, NCP stated that this initiative aims to establish a partnership with the private sector, based on a design, build, finance, operate and maintain (DBFOM), aiming to reduce traffic congestion and boost public transport efficiency in Madinah.

The project includes the construction of three bus routes in Madinah. The first rapid bus route will start from Uhud to Quba Mosque, covering16.2 kilometers (km) and including 12 stations and two parking areas.

The second 38-km route will run from Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport to Miqat Mosque, including 24 stations and three parking areas. Meanwhile, the third route will stretch from the east of Qassim Road (the Migration Line) to Prince Abdul Majeed Mosque, extending over 10.4 km. It will comprise 10 stations and a parking area.

This will be the first-of-its-kind project in Madinah's rapid bus network, which serves the city's residents as well as Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, NCP said, adding that this will be also the Kingdom's first project to come under a partnership with the private sector.

The authority calls on investors interested in the project to submit their expression of interest (EOI) letters starting July 19.
