Khaled Al-Mashaan, Director of Institutional Communication at SAGO

The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) is working to conclude long-term contracts, for a minimum period of six months, to safeguard against grain supply shortage, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Khaled Al-Mashaan, SAGO’s Director of Institutional Communication.

According to Saudi Arabia’s food security strategy, the strategic inventory of grain must not be less than four months.

In light of the global developments on the pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, SAGO is keen to enhance the strategic storage of wheat, he noted, adding that the domestic markets will not witness any impact on wheat supplies as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
