Saudi official gazette published on June 24 the details of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, to carry out an electrical interconnection project between the two countries.
The deal includes the establishment of an optical fiber line linking the two countries' communications networks.
The two parties are working to take the necessary legal measures for the Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) to negotiate with Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity, to conclude the electrical interconnection agreements, as per the applicable laws and regulations and the provisions of this MoU.
In January, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy and Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity signed a MoU to frame cooperation in the field of electrical interconnection between the two countries, according to data available with Argaam.
