Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports rose by 11% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 55.3 billion in April, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Meanwhile, imports fell 1%, or around SAR 583 million, compared with the previous month.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports YoY in April was driven by a SAR 1.59 billion rise, or 40%, in base metals and articles of base metals. This is in addition to a 50% jump, or SAR 1.32 billion, in metal products.

China topped the Kingdom's list of importers, with SAR 10.96 billion, accounting for 20% of the total value of imports in April.
The US and India came in second and third, at 10% and 7%, respectively. The UAE ranked fourth, with 6%.
