Saudi Arabia keen on helping neediest citizens amid rising costs of basic needs: Crown Prince

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed the need to take into account the neediest citizens when facing the international developments that led to a rise in the costs of some basic needs, Saudi Press Agency reported.

 

During a meeting of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs held today in Jeddah, the Crown Prince also affirmed the important roles of ministries and government agencies as regards monitoring international developments related to chains supplying, monitoring markets, product availability, price levels, protecting and encouraging fair competition, and combating and preventing monopolistic practices.

 

The council was briefed on the presentation submitted by the Ministry of Health regarding the health developments related to COVID-19, including an update on the epidemiological situation following the decision to lift the precautionary and preventive measures. It was also briefed on the updates related to administering vaccines, the most prominent preparations for this year’s Hajj season and the state of the epidemiological situation internationally.

 

The council followed up with the periodic presentation submitted by the Ministry of Economy and Planning regarding the analysis of opening economic activities and the impact of the pandemic.

 

The council, accordingly, took the necessary recommendations in this regard.
