The General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM) stated that three new cinema operators entered the Saudi market, namely the UAE’s Reel Cinemas, South Africa’s Nu Metro and Lebanon’s Grand Cinemas, Al Jazirah newspaper reported.

The new operators opened doors to visitors this month in Obhur Mall, Jeddah.

The authority added that two operators launched their business in 2022 for the first time in three new Saudi cities, adding that they operated Muvi Cinema in Khamis Mushait and Empire Cinema in Rabigh and Arar.

The total number of cinemas in the Kingdom reached 59, achieving the goals of the initiative that aims to activate the local cinema sector.
