Sahara International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) said that a fire broke out today, Aug. 29, in a factory of its Hail-based subsidiary, Saudi Specialized Products Co. (Wahaj), during the trial run period.

No injuries or casualties were reported, the company said in a statement to Tadawul, adding that it is investigating the accident causes and working on a full assessment of the resulting damage.

All the company's sites are insured, a factor which will be taken into account when evaluating the damage. Any other developments will be announced in due course, Sipchem added.

The company also thanked the firefighting teams in Hail and its employees for their fast response.

Wahaj operates an ethylene vinyl acetate films (EVA) plant in Hail.
