The Public Investment Fund (PIF) is expected to tap international debt markets for a debut green bonds issue next week, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The issuance time depends on market conditions, and it may take place in October, the sources said, noting that the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund has been monitoring the market for the past several months to issue these bonds.
The issuance is likely to be worth billions of dollars. It may be arranged by the same banks that earlier lent to the fund.
In July 2021, banking sources said that the PIF was considering its first issuance of green bonds by the fourth quarter of 2021, Argaam earlier reported.
