Saudi Arabia registers price increases in 137 goods, services in August

Prices of 26 goods and services in Saudi Arabia decreased year-on-year (YoY) last August, while prices of 137 out of 169 goods and services rose, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 92 food products, prices of local potatoes recorded the highest rise, up 39.56% YoY. It was followed by imported frozen chicken (DOUX), with a 36.91% YoY increase.

 

On the other hand, American and Indian cardamom saw the steepest decline YoY at 20.92% and 17.3%, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 28 construction materials surged YoY in August, while 10 others declined during the same month.

 

Prices of 10 fodder and livestock products soared YoY during the month, while one product retreated in the same month.

 

For clothes, all 10 items under this category saw an increase.

 

All four personal services saw a YoY rise in August.

 

Prices of all three detergents climbed up last month compared to the same period of the previous year.

 

Elsewhere, all three healthcare services were up in the same period.

 

In addition, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew YoY.

 

The prices of hotel and furnished apartment services rose YoY in August.

 

Under the tobacco products category, prices of Marlboro cigarettes remained unchanged YoY.
