Saudi Power Procurement Co. (SPPC) announced offering five new renewable energy projects to produce electricity under the fourth phase of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), overseen by the Ministry of Energy.

The projects have a combined capacity of 3,300 megawatts (MW) of electricity, including three wind and two solar energy projects, the state-owned Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The combined capacity of wind projects in this phase stands at 1,800 MW, divided into 700 MW in Yanbu, 600 MW in Al Ghat, and 500 MW in Waad Al Shamal. The total capacity of solar projects will reach 1,500 MW, including 1,100 MW in Al Henakiyah and 400 MW in Tubarjal.

These projects are offered under the NREP, in line with the Kingdom’s target to achieve the optimal energy mix to generate 50% of power from renewables and 50% from gas, displacing liquid fuel by 2030.
