Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) updated the regulations related to employee unauthorized absence from work in private-sector entities.

The update came as part of the ministry’s efforts to improve the contractual relationship between employees and employers, protect rights of all parties and boost flexibility in the labor market.

"After the employer submits a request to terminate the contractual relationship due to the employee unauthorized absence, the expat’s data becomes no longer registered with this entity, with the status changed to ‘discontinued from work’," the update entailed.

“The employee is not entitled to receive any dues from the employer and has 60 days to transfer to another job or make a final exit. If no choice was taken within this period, the employee’s status will change to ‘absentee from work’ in the Ministry’s systems,” it added.

If the employee mobility request was not completed within 15 days of the ministry’s approval on the job transfer, the status of the employee will remain (absent without official leave).
