A Saudia airplane
Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) signed an agreement with German electric plane maker, Lilium to buy up to 100 aircraft for use on Saudia's domestic network, Reuters reported. Citing Saudia CEO Ibrahim Koshy.
The planes will be a premium service that carry four to six passengers.
This shows Saudia's commitment to sustainability as the carrier will buy 100% electric aircraft. Saudia is the first airline in the MENA region that is introducing this as part of their network.
Certification by regulators is expected in 2025, Koshy added.
