CMA approves new series of qualification examinations

The Capital Market Authority (CMA) approved today, Nov. 7, a new series of qualification examinations for the registrable functions or those who want to be registered in the capital market institutions.

 

This comes in line with the developments in the capital market regulations and international capital markets. To this end, it requires providing professional cadres qualified to engage in securities business and candidates who seek to develop their skills in the financial sector and build capabilities in the capital market, the regulator added.

 

These examinations, which were developed by the CMA in cooperation with the Financial Academy and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), followed the best practices applied internationally.

 

This will enable the capital market institutions to meet the investors' expectations, raise the securities business quality and develop the performance of various activities, in addition to expanding the base of professional national cadres.

This is in addition to International Certificate in Wealth and Investment Management (CME-4A) and Corporate Finance Technical Foundations (CME-5A), which have been previously approved by CMA.

 

In light of the above, the required examinations as per the registrable functions shall be as follows:

The new series of examinations will be held as of February 1, 2023, and will be obligatory from said date.

 

All candidates who passed the CMA's current qualification examinations are still qualified for registration with the market regulator as per the requirement of every registrable function without the need for obtaining the new examinations.
