KFUPM hosts Middle East and North Africa Conference on Information Systems from Nov. 16-19

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) will host the Middle East and North Africa Conference on Information Systems (MENACIS) in its fifth edition under the theme "Socially Responsible Information Systems for Sustainable Society" from Nov. 16-19, 2022. In 2018, France welcomed the first edition of the conference, while the second was held in Lebanon in 2019. The third edition was held virtually in 2020, and the fourth was organized in Morocco in 2021.

 

The conference will be organized under the umbrella of Association for Information Systems (AIS), represented by the Middle East and North Africa Association, and the Saudi Information Systems, for the first time in the GCC countries. The fifth edition comes after the success of the previous editions in some prestigious universities across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The conference is a global platform for offering innovative information system research to serve a sustainable society.

 

The 5th MENACIS, which will run until Nov. 19, will bring together a number of prominent international researchers, experts, and students from various disciplines from more than 40 countries. It will discuss important topics in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), financial technology, digital transformation, and responsible information systems that are aimed at community service, in addition to other important topics.

 

The event will highlight the role of information systems and technology to achieve the sustainable development goals. It will include some panel discussions and various events with active participation of top world researchers, most notably Jason Thatcher, Professor in Management Information Systems, who has been ranked as the most productive researcher in the list of senior scientists in information systems, and Suprateek Sarker, Professor and President of the AIS. Other participants are Andrew Burton-Jones, Professor and Editor-in-Chief of MISQ Journal, one of the most prominent and leading academic journals in management information systems, and Yogesh Dwivedi, Professor and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Information Management, a widely respected professional journal in the field. Raghav Rao, Professor and Editor-in-Chief of Information Systems Frontiers, as well as Samuel Fosso Wamba, Professor and principal editor of the International Journal of Logistics, as well as numerous other Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Logistics, will also participate among others from different countries.  

 

The MENACIS has received strong interest from information systems entities, as well as local and foreign companies specialized in information systems and the business sector. It will host an exhibition and workshops among other events to promote the role of information systems in serving the society.

 

The conference is organized in line with KFUPM’s commitment and strategy, being embodied by KFUPM Institute for Knowledge Exchange (KIKX), which has been recently incorporated for effective contribution to the Saudi Vision 2030.
