Saudi Arabia’s merchandize imports rose by 27% year-on-year (YoY) in September to SAR 60.05 billion, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Imports declined by SAR 3.46 billion, or 5% in September, compared to August.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in September was driven by a SAR 2 billion, or 20% hike, in its machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment and parts thereof, and a SAR 3.64 billion in vehicles, aircraft, vessels and associated transport equipment.

The US and the UAE came in the second and third positions at 12% and 7%, respectively.
The top 10 exporters to Saudi Arabia accounted for 61.3%, or SAR 36.8 billion, of the Kingdom's total imports in September.
