NUSANED inaugurates specialty chemicals plant

Saudi Basic Industries Corp.’s (SABIC) Local Content and Business Development Unit, inaugurated, through NUSANED™ initiative, a Saudi industrial chemicals plant (one of the initiative's yields) in Jeddah.  

The new plant will contribute to strengthening the Kingdom's position as a source of safe chemical softeners, which are widely used in the manufacturing processes and plastic applications, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. 

The qualitative project is the first in Saudi Arabia to use SABIC's Dioxylhexanol (2EH) to produce Dioctyl Terephthalate (DOTP). The latter is an essential ingredient in the manufacturing of plastic softeners that are widely used in consummatory, medical and baby care products, as well as toys and flooring. 

It is an added-value project that reflects SABIC's keenness to support the national industry and achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives. It is aimed at developing the local content and enabling strategic industries, through the company's national NUSANED™ initiative.
