US oil inventories witness sudden rise of 700,000 barrels

US crude oil inventories rose against forecasts for the week ended Dec. 23, with gasoline inventories down during the same period.

 

Crude oil stocks rose by 700,000 barrels by the end of the week, versus expectations of a 1.2-million-barrel fall, data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed.

 

Likewise, gasoline inventories shed 3.1 million barrels, while distillate stocks saw a 300,000-barrel increase.
