US oil inventories record higher-than-expected rise

US crude oil inventories saw a better-than-expected rise last week, while fuel stockpiles fell.

 

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) said that crude inventories increased by 1.7 million barrels in the week ended Dec. 30, 2022, compared with analysts’ expectations for 1.5 million barrels.

 

US gasoline and distillate stockpiles fell by 300,000 and 1.4 million barrels, respectively last week.
