Saudi ports’ improvement is due to legislative, infrastructure reforms: Minister

Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh Al-Jasser

The improved performance of Saudi ports is due to legislative and infrastructure reforms, as well as and improved port connectivity, said Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh Al-Jasser.

Al-Jasser explained in a session at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh that the railway project that will link eastern Saudi Arabia with its west is one of the important projects and will become a major enabler for the mining sector.

He pointed out that Saudi Arabia already has a 1,500-kilometer railway linking northern Saudi Arabia to Ras Al-Khair Port, which was built mainly to support the mining sector, noting that during the past two months, this railway has been linked to the Jubail Commercial Port, Jubail Industrial Port and King Abdulaziz Port.

Saudi Arabia's road network is well built and can support the full expansion of the targeted mining sector, the minister noted.
