Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadley, affirmed that the Cabinet's approval issued today to rebrand the General Grains Corporation (SAGO) to the General Authority for Food Security will contribute to improving food security indicators, as well as achieving national goals in developing the sector, and enhancing the successes of the sector, in line with the Kingdom's goals of Vision 2030, according to a statement.
The decision will further strengthen the role of the new authority in exercising its tasks and competencies in implementing and managing food security strategy programs to the fullest, in addition to raising the level of services provided, to help achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in the Kingdom, he added.
For his part, Governor of the General Authority for Food Security, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Faris, stated that the decision will contribute to unifying the efforts of government agencies and the private sector to strengthen the food security system, in light of the keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to raise the efficiency of the performance of government agencies and achieve the aspired goals.
The Saudi Cabinet approved today, Jan. 17, in a session chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the rebranding of SAGO to the General Authority for Food Security, and endorsed its draft organizational arrangements.
