MAWANI says container handling rises 14% to 955,700 TEUs in December

Saudi ports reported a 13.63% rise in containers handled to 955,730 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in December 2022, compared to 841,060 TEUs in the same month last year.

 

In a statement, the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said that outbound containers increased by 7.15% to 214,790 TEUs in December 2022, compared to the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, inbound containers rose 24.41% to 246,020 TEUs, compared to December, 2021.

 

Transshipment containers also increased by 12% to 494,920 TEUs, compared to 442,850 TEUs in December, 2021.

 

Saudi ports handled 172 million tons of foodstuff cargo, a rise of 19% compared to December, 2021.
