The Official Gazette Um Al-Qura published the details of the domestic workers agreement signed between Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone in June 2022.

The agreement aims to attract domestic workers from Sierra Leone to Saudi Arabia, as well as protect the rights of both employers and domestic workers. In addition, it aims to regulate the contractual relationship between the two parties.

Under the agreement, both parties are committed to applying an acceptable system to recruit Sierra Leonean domestic workers in Saudi Arabia as per the applicable laws, rules and regulations. In addition, they agreed to adopt a unified domestic workers recruitment agreement approved by the competent authorities.

The agreement is to ensure the recruitment of domestic workers through licensed offices, companies, or agencies in both countries. It also ensures the control of recruitment costs, in addition to making sure that recruitment agencies and employers in both countries do not impose fees or cut the salary of domestic workers in return for the recruitment costs.

Further, the two parties agreed to solve any problem that may arise from the implementation of this agreement.

Earlier this month, the Saudi Cabinet endorsed two agreements on the employment of domestic workers and laborers between Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone, according to data available with Argaam.
