Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services
Jeddah Islamic Port will see more investments, aimed at increasing the port’s share of goods shipments from outside Saudi Arabia or transshipments, in addition to other investments, said Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, during the Municipal Investment Forum (Furas) in Riyadh.
The port currently handles 7 million containers, which will likely increase to 13 million by 2030. King Abdullah Port handles 5 million containers, targeted to reach 20 million.
Reaching these targets requires huge investments from private sector port operators.
Khumra region in South Jeddah has investment opportunities, and will be offered for development as a logistics center this year, Al-Rumaih added.
