Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef said that Saudi Arabia currently has 50 registered pharmaceutical plants covering the country's needs by 28% in terms of value and 42% in terms of volume.
Speaking during the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit, the Minister indicated that the chemical pharmaceuticals sector in the Kingdom is key and has proven resilient in face of challenges during the pandemic, noting that the vaccine and biomedicine industry committee is working with 13 government agencies to promote the concept of the one-shop-stop for the first time.
He further stated that the Kingdom follows a strategic and comprehensive approach to build the right infrastructure for world-class biotechnology, which will lure the best talents, promote innovation, and achieve leadership for the Kingdom globally in the field of healthcare and life sciences.
