POS device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 12 billion in the week ended Feb. 4, compared to SAR 10.1 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that about 167.9 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent what consumers spend using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

All sectors increased during the week, led by the jewelry sector which rose by 37%. It was followed by furniture, and, electronics and electric appliances sectors, which saw increases of 29% and 27%, respectively.
During the week, consumer spending focused on the food and beverages sector, reaching nearly SAR 1.88 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafes sector with SAR 1.77 billion.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions in terms of value with almost SAR 3.89 billion, or 32% of total sales. Jeddah came second with SAR 1.73 billion, as indicated below:
