The signing ceremony
The Arab Agricultural Services Co. (ARASCO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with both NEOM and Cargill, a global player in the field of agricultural business, with the aim of supporting the sustainable expansion of the aquaculture sector in Saudi Arabia, and achieving self-sufficiency in this sector by 2030.
The MoU is focused on innovation and sustainability in environment-friendly aquaculture. The three parties will cooperate and focus on research and development to expand and explore sustainable methods of aquaculture to meet the growing local demand, and to provide more sustainable food sources, according to a statement issued by ARASCO today, Feb. 12.
ARASCO's CEO Nasser Abanmi said, "The Kingdom enjoys abundant natural resources along the western coast with a length of 2,600 kilometers, where aquaculture can be a great opportunity to serve food security in the Kingdom. We also need aquaculture to help provide food for the world.”
