Saudi holdings of US Treasuries at $119.7 bln in December 2022

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries reached $119.7 billion in December 2022, falling $1.8 billion month-on-month (MoM), new data released by the US Treasury showed.

 

The Kingdom maintained the 16th place among the largest holders of US debt in December.

 

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $106.5 billion, representing 89% of the total. This is besides short-term bonds worth $13.2 billion, accounting for 11%.

Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds in December with a value of $1.076 trillion. China came next, with a value of $867.1 billion, as the following table shows:
