The signing of the agreement
Saudi Aramco signed today, April 11, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Coffee Co., a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), for non-profit strategic cooperation aimed at developing coffee industry in the Kingdom.
The move aims to boost the industry to reach sustainable levels.
Under the MoU, Saudi Coffee will continue Aramco's localization efforts through training farmers in Jazan and Asir as well as providing full support for coffee industry.
In addition, the company will provide consultations to promote best practices to operate the Coffee Development Center in Al Dair Governorate, which Aramco is working to establish in cooperation with Jazan Mountains Development Authority. The center will serve the region's farmers and expand the coffee marketing locally and globally.
Khalid Al-Zamil, Acting Vice President of Public Affairs at Aramco, said this cooperation with Saudi Coffee represents a turning point for the localization initiatives of Aramco.
He added that Aramco continues its tangible contributions in supporting small industries initiatives, including the program that was launched in 2016 to train coffee farmers on the latest sustainable agriculture methods in Jazan.
