TASI jumps 7.9% in Ramadan, posts biggest gain since 2017

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed out Ramadan in the green, soaring 7.9%, or 813 points, to 11,164 points. It opened the Hijri month at 10,351 points.

 

The benchmark index posted weekly gains during the month, recording the biggest rise since 2017, when it rallied 8.1%.

 

The holy month of Ramadan coincided with the beginning of the Q1 2023 earnings season. Seven companies have disclosed their financial statements until the end of Ramadan. More earnings announcements are expected once Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) resumes trading on April 25.

 

TASI raised its gains to 685 points, or 6.5% from between Jan. 1 and April 17.

The main gauge hit its highest level and close on April 17, the last trading session in Ramadan, at 11,164 points.

 

The lowest level was scaled on March 23, the first trading session in Ramadan, at 10,302 points. TASI also closed at the lowest level of 10,446 points in the same session.

 

The highest and lowest traded value were recorded at SAR 6.95 billion and SAR 4.06 billion on March 27 and 26, respectively.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 190 to 15 during Ramadan.

 

Al Kathiri Holding was the top riser in Ramadan this year, soaring 64%. Zain KSA advanced 45%.

Thimar was the biggest loser, shedding 29%. Al Sagr and Alamar fell 10%. SABIC Agri-Nutrients dropped 6%.

REIT Performance:
 

A total of 13 REITs gained, four lost, while one was steady in Ramadan.

 

Jadwa REIT Al Haramain Fund led risers, jumping 17%. Taleem REIT Fund came second with a gain of 10%.

 

Derayah REIT Fund led decliners, dropping 2%.
