The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) approved the rules of practicing customs clearance profession, to replace the guide to practicing customs clearance issued on March 8, 2018.

The authority indicated that the rules include a number of amendments to some customs clearance-related services, such as the cancellation of the SAR 3,000 fees for issuing and renewing a customs clearance license, the SAR 1,000 fees for adding an export and import branch, and the SAR 1,000 fees for adding a transit branch.

Furthermore, the amendments include canceling the requirement for a bank guarantee that ranged from SAR 100,000 to SAR 200,000 and limiting this requirement only to establishing a transit activity at a value of SAR 50,000.

The rules of practicing customs clearance profession aim to document the relevant procedures and requirements, including those related to the import, export, or transit of goods. The rules also help classify the customs clearance activities.
