Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR)
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) transported 2.22 million passengers in the first quarter of 2023, a surge of 104% year-on-year (YoY).
The number of train trips rose 54% YoY to 8,036 through the north, east and Haramain high-speed rail networks, the state-run SPA reported, citing a SAR statement.
SAR transported 5.83 million tons of goods and minerals, an increase of 7% YoY. The company’s network was almost 100% ready in the three-month period.
SAR aims to sign several agreements with various entities in the coming period, to expand its customer base in various industries, CEO Bashar AlMalik said.
