The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) arrested employees of the Jeddah General Court on bribery charges.
In a statement, Nazaha said the first employee, Ayman Abdulrazaq Mohammed Salwati, was caught after receiving SAR 250,000 out of a promised SAR 500,000 bribe from a citizen, in exchange for illegally bringing the case into the Court of Appeal and seeking overturn of the ruling in an existing case between him and an investment firm in Jeddah. That citizen was fined SAR 7.32 million.
The second, Ali Mohammed Ahmed, received SAR 125,000 as his share of the bribe.
Nazaha will continue to apply the law with zero tolerance against corruption. It will also pursue everyone, who abuses power to achieve personal gain or harm public interest, the statement added.
