Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) announced reducing the maximum limit for recruiting domestic workers from Philipines to SAR 15,900 from SAR 17,288, excluding value-added tax (VAT).

The ministry said the move came in continuation of its effort to develop the local labor market. This is besides organizing the sector’s procedures and price ceiling, alongside governing and following up on their implementation to ensure the quality of services provided.

This is under the ministry’s endeavor to improve the market environment and enhance its attractiveness.

Last September, the ministry began requiring all establishments that provide mediation services in recruiting domestic workers not to exceed the highest ceiling of costs, according to Argaam's data.

The ministry set the maximum limit for recruiting domestic workers from Uganda at SAR 9,500, Thailand (SAR 10,000), Kenya (SAR 10,870), Bangladesh (SAR 13,000) and Sri Lanka (SAR 15,000), excluding VAT.
