The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) said the professional verification program in Sri Lanka started for five professions: plumbing, electricity, car electricity, car mechanics, as well as refrigeration and air conditioning, out of 23 specializations targeted by the ministry.

In a statement, the ministry added that this move is part of its plan to activate the program in several countries. It was rolled out in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh in the last few months.

The program aims to verify workers’ skills in 23 specializations. It also aims to upskill the labor force, enhance the quality of professional services, boost productivity, and halt the entry of workers into the Kingdom.

The verification program is part of the Professional Accreditation (PA) scheme, which aims to regulate the labor market and enhance the quality of the workforce in the Kingdom.
