Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies Co. (AWPT) announced, on July 24, that the company-led consortium has been selected by the Saudi Water Partnership Co. (SWPC) as the preferred bidder for the development of Rayis-Rabigh Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project (IWTP), with a revised tariff of SAR 1.25678 per cubic meter.
In a statement to Tadawul, the company said Rayis-Rabigh IWTP is the first of its kind project in the Kingdom to be developed on build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.
The project will have a transmission capacity of 500,000 cubic meters per day and a length of 150 kilometers to provide Makkah and Madinah regions with drinking water.
The company will work with the relevant stakeholders to complete the project’s financial closure. It expects the completion of construction and the start of commercial operations by the first quarter of 2026 for 35 years.
The statement noted that Alkhorayef Water owns 50% of the consortium, adding that there are no related parties to this deal.
Any developments will be announced in due course.
The financial impact of the project will be disclosed upon signing of the agreement, the statement said.
