The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced today, Aug. 19, the start of the third phase of the Riyadh Bus service within the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in the Saudi capital.

As this phase starts, the total number of Riyadh Bus routes reach 33, with 565 buses operating across more than 1,611 stations and stops. The new phase covers 1,284 kilometers (km) of the total 1,900 km-long network, RCRC said in a statement.

The remaining phases will be launched by the end of this year.

The third phase includes the addition of route No. 13, as an extension of Route No. 11 for buses with a designated lane linking King Abdulaziz Road and Salahuddin Al Ayubi Road.

Nearly 435,000 trips served more than four million passengers in the first six months from the launch of the Riyadh Bus service in March, RCRC added.

The first and second phases of the Riyadh Bus service were launched last March and June, Argaam earlier reported.

Bus routes in Riyadh are divided into 6 major routes across 85 stations. The network will be fully operational by Q4 2024.
