Jeddah Economic Co. (JEC) resumed works on Jeddah Tower that will exceed 1,000 meters tall, MEED reported, citing a source close to the project.
The tender has been issued, CEO of Kingdom Holding Co. (KHC) Talal Al Maiman stressed, indicating that the company invited contractors to submit their bids by the end of this year to obtain a contract for the completion of the tower’s work.
Contractors invited for bidding are namely Almabani General Contractors, Al Bawani Co., China Harbour Engineering Co. (CHEC), Consolidated Contractors Co., El Seif Engineering Contracting (ESEC), Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi & Sons Co., Nesma & Partners Contracting Co., Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), Samsung C&T Corp., Freyssinet Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd., Skanska AB and STRABAG International GmbH Co.
These companies have three months to prepare their bids, Al Maiam noted, expecting the companies to form joint ventures of local and international partners.
JEC requested the SAR 653 million worth of performance guarantees/bonds provided by the project former contractor, Saudi Binladin Group, the CEO added, noting that KHC, Bakhsh Group and Sharbatly Group own stakes in JEC of 40%, 40% and 20%, respectively.
According to data available with Argaam, Jeddah Tower is part of the Jeddah Economic City project, which spans an area of five million square meters, and is owned by JEC.
