Saudi Arabia secured a leading position in the maritime transport industry regionally and globally through its geographical location that connects three continents, said Omar Hariri, President of the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI).

He told the Saudi Maritime Congress that this contributes to the achievement of Vision 2030 goals that are related to the maritime transport and logistics industry, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The event reflects the Kingdom's role in boosting the maritime transport and logistics industry, Hariri said, noting that the conference helped build the maritime transport networks that represent the key starting point for this industry.

The conference also represents an ideal platform for the industry pioneers to study relevant investments.

The Kingdom secured a leading position in the maritime transport and logistics industry, leaping from the 24th to the 16th rank in container handling globally. It also jumped 17 places globally to the 38th rank on the Logistics Performance Index.
