The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said Saudi Arabia’s private health insurance subscribers amounted to 37.5% of the population (aged 15 years and older) in 2023, with Saudis constituting about 20.5% of the total, while foreigners made up 53.6%.
According to the Child Health and Wellbeing Survey and the National Health Survey by GASTAT, which provide descriptive analysis of healthcare trends in the Kingdom, government coverage reached nearly 33% during the same period, with Saudis and foreigners representing about 46% and 20.6%, respectively.
Approximately 21.8% of total subscribers paid in cash or via credit card for healthcare services.

Meanwhile, 19.5% of children aged less than 15 years signed up for private health insurance to cover basic healthcare expenses. Meanwhile, percentage of children whose parents pay in cash or by credit card to obtain healthcare services is estimated at 9.7%, as shown in the following chart:
The survey added that 46.8% of the Kingdom's adult population (15 years and above) undergo medical examinations at least once a year. The percentage increases significantly in age groups of 50 years and older, as indicated below:
