MEWA achieves self-sufficiency in some products, plans to start export: Spokesperson

Saleh bin Dakhil, spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), said the ministry achieved self-sufficiency in some products and plans to start exporting to foreign markets, Saudi Press Agency reported.

 

He highlighted the ministry's role that is based on plans and strategies to promote and achieve sustainability.

 

The loans offered by the Agricultural Development Fund in the poultry sector exceeded SAR 7 billion by the end of 2022.

 

In addition, an expansion plan was adopted to inject fresh investments worth SAR 17 billion in the poultry sector, to raise the self-sufficiency in the sector from 68% to 80% at first stage, the spokesperson said.

 

He added that the self-sufficiency in red meat increased by 60%, table eggs (117%), fish (60%), dairy products (118%), and poultry meat (68%).
