Umm Al-Qura newspaper published on Nov. 11 the Saudi Red Sea Authority regulations, which will be effective as of the publication date.

Under the regulations, the authority will have a legal personality as well as financial and administrative independence. The authority will be headquartered in Riyadh and may establish branches or offices within the Kingdom when needed. It will be also organizationally linked to the minister.

Under the regulations, the authority will regulate navigational and marine activities within the geographical scope, without prejudice to the jurisdictions of other parties.

It will also develop policies, strategies, plans, programs, and initiatives necessary to regulate maritime activities, navigational activities, and tourist marinas within the geographical scope.

The authority aims to issue the necessary licenses and permits to organize navigational activities, maritime activities, and related work within the geographical scope.

Furthermore, the authority will review the competencies and tasks of entities that conduct business within the geographical scope and propose the necessary amendments in coordination with such entities.

It will also follow up on the requirements, conditions and procedures of the relevant authorities concerned with regulating the practice of navigational and maritime activities.

The regulations allow the authority to offer proposals to the unregulated competencies and tasks of entities within the geographical scope, if any, without prejudice to aspects related to the environment, natural resources, maritime security, and safety requirements.

In November 2022, King Salman approved the authority's regulatory arrangements, which are related to the regulation of maritime and tourist activities of cruises and yachts within the geographical scope of the Kingdom in the Red Sea, in addition to supporting investors as well as medium and small enterprises, Argaam earlier reported
