POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled approximately SAR 14.87 billion in the week ended Dec. 2, compared to SAR 11.25 billion in the previous week.
Data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that total POS transactions amounted to around 204.69 million during the week.
POS transactions represent consumer expenditures through debit and credit cards at major shopping centers, retail outlets, pharmacies, and others.

During the week, the education sector led the top-performing sectors in terms of traded value with a 433% surge, followed by the telecommunications sector (56%), and beverages and food (54%).
On the other hand, the hotels sector was the only decliner with a drop of 19%.
For the same period, consumer spending was focused on beverages and food, totaling SAR 2.46 billion. The restaurants and cafes sector trailed with total POS transactions worth SAR 1.99 billion.
