POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia totaled approximately SAR 12.07 billion in the week ended Dec. 9, compared to about SAR 14.87 billion in the previous week.
Data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that total POS transactions amounted to around 187.77 million during the week.
POS transactions represent consumer expenditures through debit and credit cards at major shopping centers, retail outlets, pharmacies, and others.

All sectors saw a decrease in terms of transactions value last week, with education leading with a 39% drop, followed by clothing & footwear (27%) and telecommunications (25%).
For the same period, consumer spending was focused on food & beverages (F&B), totaling SAR 1.84 billion. The restaurants & cafes sector trailed with total POS transactions worth SAR 1.77 billion, as shown below:

Geographically, Riyadh led for the same week with approximately SAR 4.18 billion POS transactions, representing 35% of the total. Jeddah came in second with SAR 1.69 billion, as follows:
