Qiddiya Investment Co. announced today, Dec. 14, launching an esports and gaming zone in Qiddiya city, which is deemed the world’s first mixed-use e-sports and gaming zone.
The new zone aims to attract 10 million annual visits and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for e-sports and gaming, the state-run SPA reported.
The zone spans 500,000 square meters (sqm), including 100,000 sqm for the sale of games, foods and entertainment. It will also provide a favorable environment for living, work and gaming through quality, luxurious residential units.
The zone will comprise four arenas to host the most notable global events in the e-gaming sector throughout the year. It will accommodate 73,000 seats for audience. One of the arenas will have 5,300 seats, one of the world’s largest esports stadiums. One of the venues will include will have the world's largest indoor LED screen in an esports arena.
The zone will host up to 25 esports clubs. It will welcome ndustry leaders, housing regional headquarters for over 30 top video game companies.
