Saudi Cabinet meeting
Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by King Salman, agreed today, Dec. 19, to allow local agricultural companies and large farmers to grow wheat and seasonal fodder in accordance with controls set by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA).
During the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the topics on its agenda, including ones discussed by the Shura Council, as well as the conclusions of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the Council of Political and Security Affairs, the General Committee of the Council of Ministers and the Bureau of Experts of the Council of Ministers in this regard.
The Council also approved establishing the Saudi Commission for Electronic Games and Sports according to its organizational structure. They ratified the decision of the Supreme Committee for Transport and Logistics to raise the target of local content in the road sector strategy from 60% to 70% by 2030, in conjunction with the target of local content for government procurement according to the Saudi Nationalization Scheme.
In addition, the Cabinet authorized the Minister of Energy - or his deputy - to discuss with Austria and the Philippines the two draft memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for cooperation in the field of energy, and to sign them.
They further approved a declaration of intent between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the UK Department for Business and Trade.
Meanwhile, they authorized the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources - or his deputy - to discuss and sign with the Japanese side a draft memorandum of cooperation between the ministry and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan in mining and mineral resources sectors.
The Cabinet also approved a MoU in the field of investment between the Ministry of Investment and the Public-Private Partnership Authority of Bangladesh.
This is in addition to approving two MoUs for cooperation in tourism between the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism in Montenegro, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in Japan.
