The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) stated the shift to seasonal fodder cultivation and the gradual cessation of perennial fodder cultivation contribute significantly to preserving non-renewable natural resources.

This achieves the ministry’s strategic goals of developing and sustaining natural resources, as well as achieving water security.

Saleh bin Dakhil, spokesperson for the ministry, said the Cabinet's decision to allow local agricultural companies and large farmers to grow wheat and seasonal fodder supports the agricultural sector, achieves food security and environmental balance, as well as protects and sustains natural resources.
