Oil tanks
US oil inventories fell by about 5.22 million barrels during the week ended Jan. 5, the American Petroleum Institute (API) said in its weekly report.
Gasoline stocks rose by 4.9 million barrels last week, while distillate stocks—including diesel and heating oil—increased by 6.87 million barrels.
Meanwhile, Brent crude for March delivery rose 1.95%, or $1.47, to close at $77.59 per barrel on Jan. 9. WTI crude for February delivery jumped 2%, or $1.47, to $72.24 per barrel.
